Weekly resume

Last week I finally bought buttons for my capes. All I need to do now is to add them to the capes and finish them.
The last cape is not yet finished. I tried to make a video of it but I started without having an idea how to do it, lol. I filmed a few minutes but then stopped until I try it off camera. And I did and it worked. So now I need to film it properly. Don't need to edit it or film it in one go, just film the whole thing and edit it when I get a chance.
The goal to make one video and edit it last week has failed. I filmed an incomplete video so I didn't even try to edit it. I will probably put it on a "maybe" pile for next week.
I haven't even tried making the pictures of my crocheted letters last week. The letters are still on the styrofoam. But it's a part of a video intro, so it will have to wait until I finish more pressing matters.
Didn't write the whole new pattern either. I have about 14-15 unfinished patterns and I can't begin to write even one until I finish my website. And the reason is I want to blog about my process and blog will be a major part of my website.
And I did dabble with Wordpress theme, so that is a yes on doing something I wanted for the end of last week.
Also, a major thing - I finally found the white cashmere blended yarn for my popular gloves! I can now put the gloves back in my shop with finished items! Yay! And the store has a new yarn in black color, soft as clouds. Those two colors together with a light beige color are now my three favorite yarns for the Inverted Cable gloves.
I also started on my Instagram account. I posted only two pictures but that is the first step. I made a few more pictures that I'll post at a later time. I think it's good to be prepared for Instagram especially since it's too complicated to plug in my tablet to laptop just to transfer one picture. All downloaded apps disappear from my tablet and I have to manually post them to the desktop each time I connect laptop and tablet.
I changed some things on my Ravelry page, posted a coupon code for the new pattern, changed profile pictures for my Twitter account. So things are moving from a stand still point and I'm excited about it! :)

Here's what I hope to do next week:
-Completely finish my Wordpress website (that's gonna be tricky, but I think it can be my starting point for everything related to my business)
-Make more gloves during making website (this is my relaxing time anyway)
-Complete all capes and make them ready for photo shoot
-Try some knitting ideas and take photos of the process
-Make more time for relaxing from designing
-Exercise so the back pain won't happen again

Website

I want to hurry and make my website first then work on anything new. So I am following a video from Youtube to make a Wordpress site. There are so many thing I need to think on, it's a jumble in my head. Pictures, cropping them, making menus, WOW! It's a slow process and they say I need 2 hours. Yeah, right! lol!
I'm a perfectionist, but I don't need the site to be fully customized right now. I wanted to make a standalone website with it's own store and shopping cart, but I really don't need it right now. I can just make a blog with images for products leading to my other shops on different marketplaces.
And in time, when I can afford someone to customize my site the way I want, I can do just that. Besides, it's good to refresh your website from time to time, but not a few times during one year. I should have made it back in 2014, but live and learn.
Now off to enjoy with a friend :)

My craziness

Today I woke up early because I've had a doctor's appointment. Usually when I have to wake up early to go somewhere I can't sleep well the previous night. That was the case last night. So I started imagining I was in a hammock somewhere on the beach. Usual relaxing images, right? Not for me. I started DESIGNING THE HAMMOCK in my head! I started with a wooden board. Then I made holes on that board. I first started with 5 holes on each side, but then decided I needed only 4. Also, a few holes on each sides. I'll get to that later. Then I padded that board so I can lie in it. Then came the net. I actually started crocheting my favorite stitch I-cord in my head! I first put a hook at each end. But then I started thinking the hook won't keep the hammock from detaching itself, then I changed the hook to carabiner clips. After I made the whole net around the board, I made sides with crocheted I-cords in all the holes and this time hooks on their ends. I even imagined how they will be hooked to the opposite side under the hammock when they are not used. And then I imagined a rope over my head, connecting each end of the hammock to each other and those side hooks (when they are in use) connected over it, so I can put a canvas over to keep me from mosquitoes. The end.
Now do you understand why I could not sleep!!! :)))))
I remembered that whole thing when I was in the yarn supply store so I had to tell it to my friend. We laughed so hard at my craziness!
And yeah, I bought some white yarn today, so I'll definitely be making more of my best selling white gloves!!! ♥

Reading and researching

Today was a reading and researching day. I actually enjoy these days but the time passes soooo fast! :)))
I was actually researching some dslr cameras and their functions and prices. Right now I can't afford a new camera especially a dslr, but that never stops me from reading and researching. :)
I also made a chinese chicken and rice dish my mum loves so much and I am preparing to enjoy it.
So that's it for today from me ;)

Sharing and caring

Well, I did the sharing and that made me caring :))))
The title just popped in my head so I wrote it. It has no exact connection to anything special I did today.
I brought the last cape to the end, but I want to make the finishing video tomorrow morning when there's daylight, so I'll leave the finishing for tomorrow.
I posted my first Instagram picture today. I'm proud that I begun something new :) The first steps count a lot in my book, since I always find it hard to make, don't know why. It's not like I'm jumping from a literal cliff!
It's kind of complicated to connect tablet to laptop and then transfer the picture so I can post it from the tablet. I might preload a few pictures in advance not do it one picture at a time.
So today was full, with a bit of crocheting, posting and making supper. Now I'm gonna relax a bit and watch Ghost Busters!!! Maybe dance to some music :)))

Sunny day

Today was a warm and sunny day. 16C. I went out and wore my spring jacket :)
Before that I was trying a "long promote" which I imagined. I didn't expect great results immediately, but I am proud I started with it. And that's a good thing.
I also went to the supply store and bought some yarn for the 7th cape. I also bought buttons for the other 3 capes. So all in all a good day!
I am currently working on a cape and if all goes according to my plans, I will finish it tomorrow night or Thursday morning.
I was planning to take some preliminary photos on Thursday, but they say it will be a showy day and I wanted to take them outside. I'll wait for Thursday and then decide. No need to hurry, but I have some other projects waiting and I wanted to finish that sooner rather than later.
I'm liking this last cape more and more. Too bad one of the yarn in it is discontinued. Maybe it could be a hit and I wouldn't mind making it again :)

One more pattern for testing

Today I posted another pattern for testing. It's the Moro Shrug. It's a lace shrug done on knitting needles 3.0 mm (US 2 1/2). Last time I've had 6 tester although I would have wanted to be 12, but I guess it's a bit longer project and people tend to knit/crochet smaller ones. I don't know why that is, I've always wanted to make bigger projects. Actually, sweaters are my first love. I remember designing my first sweater when I was 14. I then succumbed to that "popular" trend of designing smaller items like gloves, hats, scarves. But I actually love doing the "complicated" longer designs.
I can't wait to start working on my sandals. I have so many ideas! Today I imagined a classic sandal design similar to Roman sandal, but not quite :)
But I want to finish all the patterns that are in queue before even committing to serious sandal designing. I want then to be as perfect as they can be. And the sole is the biggest of my worries. But all good things comes to those that wait :)
I also finished another pair of braided cable gloves in plum color and started on a brown ones in the same design. The brown yarn is actually camel wool and it's not that course like sheep wool. It comes in lighter and darker brown, I chose the darker brown or natural brown.
I published Sonja Shrug on Craftsy. I made a draft on Etsy. And I plan to publish it on Ravelry tomorrow night. In the meantime while Moro Shrug is being tested, I have to decide which pattern to write next. I wanted to write all designs that I already took pictures of, but those are all sweaters and cardigans. I have 7 capes waiting and although I don't have pictures of them yet, and for some I would love to make video tutorials, I think I'll do them next. Those projects are not as big as shrugs, they have less sizes (if any) and they are made in thicker yarn. Perfect for those who want to make quicker things.
As for other new designs, a month or two ago I started a sweater for myself in off white color and thinner yarn and I would love to work on that. I've reached the waist part and I knitted everything without decreasing, but I sometimes tend to change my mind mid design and now I'm wondering if I should frog some of it and make a waist. The reason I didn't go with the decreased more fitting waist is having to calculate other sizes. Let me tell you, it's a pin in the ass! And not the donkey's ass, my own lazy ass, lol! I would have to research that a bit more and with Wordpress and video editing hanging over me (well, not exactly, I feel excited about learning new thing), I don't know if I have it in me to add this to my very chaotic schedule. But since I don't need to decide right now, I'll leave it after I clear up some of the things I piled up on myself.
And on that note, I am going to bed early. Maybe I'll catch up on some reading :)
