Nick of time

I almost skipped the writing today too. I want to stop, I want to continue. See my dilemma?
I finished and sorted some of the cards today. I have about 6 finished sets and I started the 7th. But then decided I won't stay up late and I'll finish it tomorrow. I want to design all this week and in the meantime decide on the name of new shop and also about some other organizational thingies.
And on that note I'm going to sleep :)

Skipping

I skipped yesterday. I really don't know what to write here except what I do all day long and that is not even interesting for the sake of writing every day. And the only reason I started writing every day is to remember to write every day, lol.
I almost forgot to write today too. It's because I'm going to sleep earlier now.
So I am breaking a promise I gave to myself to write every day. Especially since I won't be able to write when I go to holidays. I really don't want to make myself write when I have to swim and rest and not think about "have to's". So I'm ending it now. I am ending the have to. I won't end writing because this lets me be more organize, but I won't get up in the middle of the night just because I forgot to write here :P

Organizing

In my experience it's best to start your new work organized. I can easily design, well not always but when I'm inspired, but that part is not an issue. The issue is organizing your work. That means I have to lay everything out for myself before I start something new and then write it down. I even have a notebook now for these things. I experienced disorganization and I'm still experiencing it with my crocheting and knitting. But for this new thing organization is a must! That's why I was so hesitant to start it in the first place, because I'm not organized. People tend to say artists are like that, but I believe it's not true. You can't organize when you'll get inspired and start working, but you are not inspired all the time and you don't create new things all the time. Why not organize your life as best as you can during slow times and when the inspiration strikes you can give in to it and even start a few projects at the same time if you feel like it. I know I always feel like it :)
You can control your organization up to a point, but what if your customers keep charging through your virtual door and you can't keep up? Do you cry behind your computer while smiling from every picture? I believe most do :) But you are a human being with your own emotions. Do you really want other people to see you smile while you cry the river between your four walls? Do you live for others or for yourself? Let's be honest, you live for yourself. Not only for yourself, of course, but you are the first link, then comes your family, friends and so on. Organization is the best tool there is in human world. Not control, organization. We need to separate these two words as they have different meanings.
So, to cut this post short, I am trying to organize myself before I start my new job, because it will be a good start no matter what awaits me afterwards. Even if I crash and burn (which can happen only if I bail it completely), I will learn a new skill which I can then implement into other things.
And with those words, I am going to search for some best free organizational online tools that will help me in my future endeavors. Good luck to you too if you are on the same search as me! ♥

Friday

Still researching the same thing. It's as I'm trying to find a secret to a well of life, for crying out very loud! I swear I'll write the whole info at the end of my research and put it out there for all to find.

Rain

It's raining whole day. And I am trying to relax :) Although I am also researching some printing thingamajigs, so the relaxing part is not yet achieved. I will however go to bed early so I could at least have a good night sleep :)

Designing

I am enjoying designing new things. I designed a whole set today. It was a mess because I'm doing it on my laptop which is very slow, but it's coming along... slooooowlyyyyy :)

Learning more

I tried some designs tomorrow to get the hand of ps and it works good. It's all a matter of practice. :)

Weekly summary

I don't know if I relaxed enough. I keep imagining myself in Greece, maybe that's relaxing enough ;)
I did however go out and enjoyed the sun last week. And I also picked up another thing to learn. Graphics. Yes, graphics. I need something that will bring me more money. I won't ever give up on writing patterns, that is my love and my everything. But it doesn't bring me enough money and I have to find some other job. And since I'm old (yes, compared to 20-somethings), I do need a job. I don't like to work for anybody and I don't have much qualifications but I'm an extremely fast learning if I set my mind to it and I think I can do it. I just spent the last few days deciding what I'd like to learn in graphics because it's a vast field. And invitations come to mind. Actually it came to mind first but I didn't like the part where I have to work after someone buys something from me, hehe. When I write patterns they are available for immediate download. And with invitations you have to work after the fact. And I want to be free to explore the life in any way I choose. But then I thought, I can start with invitations and who knows where that will take me, right? And I don't have to do that my whole life. I don't seem like an adventurous type, more a couch adventurer, lol, but I am more open to new things now than I've ever been before. Now I need a learning curve. I've already started on some things.
In the meantime I can't forget my only love, crocheting and knitting. I edited a new video which will be helpful for one of my capes. I did a voice over and now I have to insert some pictures of the cape and complete the video. I'll do that tomorrow. And then the pattern for one cape will be ready for publishing.

What I want to do next week:
-Relax and exercise.
-Read.
-Publish one cape pattern.
-Publish one video.
-Write one blog post.
-Send first newsletter.
-Learn more about invitations.
-Write some more patterns.

Learning

That seems to be my pattern this year ;) I am trying to learn something new and in the meantime I'll decide what I'll do with it.
Today I watched some video tutorials and I am slowly learning. My learning process will probably last very long, but I don't mind. I just need to continue crocheting/knitting while I learn this new stuff. Because I tend to be engulfed in anything new and forget the "old" for a while thus creating a void in my designing process. And then I have to catch up which results in 20 or more designs being published at the same time, hehe.
On to practicing this new thingy! ♥

Day out

I was out almost the whole day so nothing much to write today. It was a nice day, that's all :)

Testing

Last night I was working on a new video. I had so much troubles with audio but I finally worked something out. I still don't like the final solution, but I am no professional, I'm just a beginner so I really can't spend so much time one something that is only a small part of what I do. Maybe in time. I wish I could ask someone but none of my closest friends don't know anything about this. I could have found some forum and post my question there, but I was reading some similar posts last night and the answering to questions took more days than I wish to wait. My voice sounds like I'm speaking from a barrel this time. Last time I had problems with noise. But I used a different method. This time I needed to hear my previous recording while I record the voice over. And each time I tried it, the program recorder both the original voice and my new voice over. Then I had to disconnect something called line-in mic (still don't know if this is the right phrase) and then only my voice over got recorded. And there was no noise. But my voice is a bit muffled, which I don't like. Now, I only have a simple cheap mic so I couldn't test this with a more professional one to see if the mic is the problem or it's something else. And I'm not rich enough to buy different mics just to see where the problem lies. So for now I'll do it like this. I'm a perfectionist and these things bug me sooooo much :)
On another note, I started testing some of my new designs. In my language, that means I started a new project completely :P When will I change? ;)

Working on another video

I started working on another video. It is a video of finishing one of my crochet capes. I filmed three videos for finishing 3 crochet capes. Knitted ones are easy because there is only sewing involved. Although I can always film a few videos of how to knit short rows. And maybe I will.
As for the video of this cape, I want to edit it tonight. I would like to release one cape pattern every week. So that is 7 weeks. I want to release one cape starting this week and for that I need to finish this video. I plan to release the pattern on Friday or Saturday evening. Together with that I will have to write another blog post and connect the video to it. The pattern is already written, I just want to add some pictures to it and a link to this video. I've had cold for the past week, so I'm hoping my voice will sound better now. That was the only reason why I didn't edit these 2 videos last week.
It was a very warm day today so I went out with a friend and now I'll work part of the night. Today I won't be studying the new thing, maybe I'll do it tomorrow. See, learning how to not pressure myself :)

Studying

I started a bit of studying today. I just read a few articles. Yesterday I bough a notebook so I can write things I think are important. Yes, I can bookmark and leave tabs open, but my experience is they will stay there without me ever reading it. So I decided to take things slowly this time. I am just searching and reading and taking notes. My mum taught me that paper is your best friend. Maybe this means I am serious about something, who knows, only time does ;)
When I used notebooks in the past, that meant I mean business.
As for patterns, I am ready to publish one hat pattern. It's an Inverted Cable hat which is a part of the Inverted Cable set.
I also cleaned my desk today. It was covered with projects I started and didn't finish. Mostly gloves. I put them all in one big bag and I will finish them one by one when I take breaks. My breaks are when I watch some tv show and knit something easy. And my gloves are easy since I've knitted more than 500 pairs. I can do them in my sleep :)
I am trying to relieve myself from pressure. Keep your fingers crossed that I succeed ♥

Change

I need a change. I'm overtired and I don't see the results. Yes, patience is a virtue but I can't eat patience (if there is a dish called patience, I'd love to eat it). Today I phoned a friend to ask her about some advice. I can't do this anymore. This means I don't mean to stop doing it, but it doesn't give me the desired results and I am living off of it. Most people start their business while doing their day jobs. I didn't. Well, I did, but my day job was translating and for the past 2 years I haven't got it at all. So these past 2 years this is my only source of income. And since I have time and many ideas I thought it will be easy especially because I am humble and don't need much. But it's getting harder and I have no help at all. Granted, I usually don't ask for help, I'm not used to, I can even say I'm not taught to ask for it. But enough is enough. I am not a quitter by nature. I can drive myself into the ground but I'd never admit defeat. I don't admit it now either. And the main reason for it is that I won't stop what I do, never ever. I love doing it no matter what! But it takes a lot of time to live off something like this. Especially in a sea of free patterns. I'm all over the place as far as design.
Some people knit/crochet just for kids or pets or women or men or... I make what my head tells me to :) This is good if you want to show someone what you know and how good you are at doing it. But if you want a steady income, you have to focus on a niche market. And I can't seem to do that.
I need to learn some other skill and implement it. I was searching for the past few months. Today I got an idea and wanted to talk to a friend. She gave me some boost, but my doubts will kill me I tell ya. I just can't stick to something for the life of me. One short life and too much things to learn.
Whenever I see something I always think if I can make it/do it. And I never do, I just think about it. That drains the energy that can be used for something fun or even practical.
I am currently taking the time to see what else I can do. I have an idea, but I don't know if I'll stick to it or maybe find something else. In the meantime I am doing the things I already do, which is crocheting and knitting. I'll learn new things in the meantime and if it feels right I might do it.
I want to learn to relax but it's hard when you associate relaxing with something that has become your job. When your hobby becomes your job, then what is your hobby, right?

Weekly and monthly summary

Last week was all about pictures. I've decided to clean my room so I needed to take all the pictures so I can sort, fold and remove all finished items from my room. And pictures are finally good. I wish they were great, but at this point the most important thing is to put those patterns out there. I will also post the finished items.
I filmed a few videos too. I just need to edit them. But since I have a cold and talk funny, I'll wait until I get better to do voiceovers. I can however edit the video part and add sound later. So maybe I'll work on that next week. I also wrote a few patterns. Two. I started the third one but then I had other things to do, so I'll work on it next week. I actually did everything I set to do last week :)
I did a lot past month, but since I don't see the results yet I keep thinking I didn't do nothing. It's because I haven't published any new pattern yet. And not only that, but all the patterns I'm preparing are for winter, so I don't know how they will be accepted now. My previous experience tells me that patterns I publish in april get popular in november. I started working on the summer patterns and as far as I can see they will be ready in september. It's like I'm living in Australia! :)

What I want to do next week:
-Relax, relax, relax!
-Read.
-Write patterns when I feel like it.
-Work on summer designs.
-Walk and go outside more! :)))

Cleaning

Today was a cleaning and all around relaxing day. I started by washing some of the things so I can make more space in my room. I've made a mess with my projects and I need to sort all that out. And in between of cleaning and sorting out I am working on a summer crochet shirt/top.
I wrote the pattern for one size completely, I crocheted the back of the shirt and I'm working on the front, which is the same as the back.
I'd love to work on summer designs from now on, because the warm weather is starting and it would be hot enough to work with wool yarn. I've had a hard time taking pictures yesterday, I can imagine how it can be when it's 40 degrees outside. After I finish this top I'm working on, I have 2 more summer designs in my mind. I have enough cotton yarn for one design and after it's done I'll buy some more for the other one. I keep drawing designs in my notebook. I don't think I'll make everything from my notebook but it's better to draw them than keep them in my head. Overcrowding ;)

Pictures 2

Took another series of pictures today and this time they were good. Not excellent, but it's because I did them myself, but I can work with them which is all I need. :)
And it was a particularly warm day. Although it was nice on the terrace and it was windy, which can be seen on pictures due to my hair going all around my face! :)

Pictures

I took some pictures today. Hats. Again, some came ok and some not. I guess I'll have to rinse and repeat ;) And it was a particularly hot day today. I'm imagining myself wearing those 7 capes for another photo-shoot, yikes! It's hard to take pictures when you are doing it alone. But today I was lucky to have a neighbor help me. Although the pictures are not all good. I guess I'm a perfectionist so that is why I do it myself. I really don't like taking pictures, that is why I don't do it the second I make something but wait sometimes even for years to make them (one scarf in particular).
I'll see what pictures I can save and as for the others I'll have to repeat them again. Third time is a charm, right? ;)

Working

Another pattern is written, one crochet cape. I've done all pictures needed to explain the crocheting.
I also filmed another video on how to finish the cape. And I started to write another pattern for a knitted cape. I wrote all the materials and sizing in EU and US ways.
Tomorrow I am going to my friend's dad funeral, so I probably won't be able to work. Maybe in the afternoon.
I would love to be able to write all patterns that are finished by the 15th of April. I keep putting myself under a stress, but I want to work on some summer items which I want to finish before the end of May. I want to bring them to the sea with me so I can make some outdoor pictures in Greece.
And I want to work on some new designs. Right now it feels I don't have much patterns to offer when in fact I do. :)
I bought a notebook to draw some of the ideas I have. I don't draw that good but it's good enough to know what I want to make. And beside each design I write little notes that help me make the designs better :)

Closet done!

I finished cleaning the closet today, yay! It wasn't that hard as usual. I keep throwing things out soon I won't have anything to wear, lol. What's not logical is that I have too many summer shirts and not enough winter sweaters. Knitwear/crocheter doesn't have sweaters??? :)))
That's because for the last 5 years I've been knitting gloves and smaller things. And those are mostly sold. I will have to make myself a few sweaters. Although I am always warm, maybe that's why I don't have a need for bulky sweaters and the thinner ones take time to knit/crochet. I did start one thinner a few months ago and I reached the waist. I couldn't decide if I'd like a waistline or not. Probably not, because I'll offer the pattern and I don't want to adjust it to all the sizes.
But first I want to write patterns for items I already made. Which I did for one pattern. I wrote the complete pattern for The House of Capelet and I also filmed the video today that explains how to connect the beginning to the end. The cape is done sideways. It's one of the 7 I'll offer.
Last night I thought of 3 names for 3 capes, all I need is to think of the names for 4 of them. And the worst thing about the designing process (for me at least) is coming up with the right name for the item. I am not good at that. Usually I give the item the name that just pops to my head and I can't shake it no matter what! :)

Day 1

I started a big clean today. First I want to clean my closet. I do that before every big weather change. Although I did it last summer ;) I also cleaned my yarn stash last summer and it was gruesome but I finally did it. I need to clean some more now because it accumulated during winter. And I was so busy on my website and other things for the past three months that I need to clean the mess.
It will start with my closet and things and then I'll once again visit the yarn stash. Also, my table is filled with so much paper and stuff, I need to clean that too. So, cleaning for this week ;)

Weekly summary

Last week I went to a physiotherapist so I didn't work as much as usual. People keep telling me to relax more, but I don't know how :) I keep making new things and the old ones are not yet finished. Yesterday I tried to take some pictures but it didn't quite worked as I thought. I do have some good ones of one hat, so it wasn't all lost. But I just want the pictures now and I can be impatient when I want something now. So I will see if the weather will be nice tomorrow and maybe I'll repeat the photo shoot. And if one day someone helps me with the pictures, it would be nice.
As for the list from last week, I filmed another video. It is the video of the finishing technique on the last cape. It's not as long so the editing won't be that hard. Other than that I haven't done anything that I set up to do, so I will repeat the same list for next week or even change some things.

List for next week:
-Write a few patterns.
-Edit one video at least.
-Take pictures of some items.
-Sort out everything I've done so far.

Photos

I was taking some photos today. It was a sunny but extremely windy day. It was so windy that my curls which I did previously straightened, lol! And it seems it will be windy all next week. In fact, according to a weather forecast today was the least windy of all days next week. How unfortunate. I was so hopeful. Previous weeks it was raining now it's sunny but windy. It puts a strain on me taking photos of my designs. Either it's cold or it's hot and I can't really wear wooly designs then.
I might have to take some indoor pictures, although the designs are all for wearing outdoors and I really love taking pictures outdoors. And taking pictures in my room is a mess. I don't have a good background, all my walls need good painting. So I have to put a cloth of a kind behind me which is difficult since I don't have anywhere to attach it to. So I came up with kind of a solution tonight. I might pin the material onto some styrofoam or wooden tiles which I'll put on top of my wardrobe. That way I can have a straightened material as a background behind me. I'll see if I can try that tomorrow morning. At least a few pictures from today's photo shoot are workable, which is good.

Resting

Well, not resting per se, but it was the last day of physio. I was in physio for 5 days only, but this week it seemed I had a regular business because I went at the same time. And weekend now seems as a small vacation :)))
If I can do that with my business somehow, maybe I'll have a different view of things. But for that to happen I would have to go out of house and I really don't know where I could go and work. I may find some solution in summer (if it's not too hot), but I don't know how to do it in winter. Something to think about.
Anyway, I am taking a rest today. Watching Miss Marple and crocheting a shirt. One of the future projects. I would love to get up early tomorrow and take some photos of my other work. It's high time to start working on the older patterns since I have some new design ideas.

Sunny

Today was a sunny yet cold day. I was out as usual, going to a physiotherapy. When I came home I decided to finish the last cape. I wanted to film it one way but it didn't seem possible. Then I decided to add a few more rows to it and tried the ending in a different way and it was a success! I even filmed the ending and I did it in a lightbox. Hopefully it will look all right when I see it on my laptop.
Now I am working on the loopy vest again. I want to use all the yarn till Tuesday so I can see how much more I need to buy. I would also like to finish the hooded scarf and Victoria set. But on the other hand, the most important thing for me is to write patterns for all 7 capes. The patterns are actually written, but I need to add pictures during the work and measurements. Hopefully I'll complete them by the end of next week. Fingers crossed! ♥

Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Crocheting

I continue crocheting the vest. I even want to call it Jelek vest, it's kind of a joke, but I will see if I'll call it that. I went to the supply shop to order some more yarn because I know I won't have enough. It should arrive next Tuesday. No matter, I have enough to work on till Tuesday.
The weather should be nice on weekend, so I hope I'll "persuade" myself to take some pictures outside. It's tedious to do it alone, but what else can I do. I can't wait for others to help me, so once more I will have to do it myself.
I took some photos for some patterns, step by step photos.

Yarn change

Yesterday I started the new design with one yarn and after I reached nearly the end of the 100g. skein I decided I don't like the look of it. So today I went to a nearby store and bought another yarn. Unfortunately they didn't have enough of it, but the shop owner was polite and said he will order some more if I need it. Luckily I will be getting the same lot since it's the same distributor. And it's a fine light beige color too. The project comes nicely. And the stitch can be done in crochet and knitting, which is great! I even have the name for the collection, Loopsies! :) Although I still don't know how many designs I will make for the collection. I only envisioned 3 for now, well it's more like 6, but 3 in crochet and 3 in knit.
I keep adding new designs and the old ones aren't finished yet. Well, classic me ;)

Monday, March 21, 2016

Monday

It was a relaxing day of sorts. I went to my first appointment with the physiotherapist and it went well. I will probably go there every day this week, maybe more, I'll have to see. After that I went for coffee with a friend. I also bought one skein of yarn to try a project I've been thinking of lately. I tried it already with some yarn I already have but after a bit of crocheting (yes, it's a crochet garment), I realized I won't have enough. And that yarn I bough out of country so no chance of buying more. The project looks quite well, but since it's a double loop stitch I won't know how much I'll need until I use at least that 100g. I bought.

Weekly summary

This one is a record. I finished all tasks I set last time very quickly. Video channel is opened and I posted one video. I also finished newsletter linking and I sent email to my previous subscribers and some of them signed up. It's not a huge number, but to me this is not a numbers game. I always start slowly which is ok with me. Slow and steady wins the race ;)
And tonight I'm going to the movies. So everything is finished and I feel weird. This is the first time, lol!
It feels there are no tasks left, but of course there is. I do better when I have tasks, even if I don't complete them in time. I always have something to do, even if it's only designing. But now all that is really left that's important is writing new patterns.

What I'd like to do next week:
-Write one complete new pattern.
-Make one new video (see the list).
-Take out all knit/crochet designs I want to take pictures of, block them and take pictures.
-Edit pictures and upload them to my tablet.
-Edit one more video.
-Write one more blog post.

Relaxing saturday

Today is my relaxing day. I am watching TV, sitting with my friend, relaxing ;)

Finished!

I am the kind of person that runs faster when she sees the finish line. That said, I stayed to wee mornings to finish my membership access. Good thing that I did, because a few minutes ago someone registered with me, even though I don't have any free patterns just yet. I am making them yes, and I actually wrote one completely, but I want to edit videos for that one. Why not, when I already filmed it ;)
So... I finished the website and and satisfied. Today I exported all my newsletter contacts from my previous list. Most of them were very, very old, more than 15 years. So I grouped them in sections and sent emails to 9 groups. There were about 20% non-deliveries, but there was one subscriber, yay! Actually, I am yet to see how many there will be. This was about hour or two after I sent the emails.
And it was lucky that I managed to finish my membership access, because there was one website subscriber also. I actually don't like how WP is handling those registrations, that is why I was up so late. I wanted to make sure everyone will get how the registering works. And I explained it on a separate page. But I am always here for help, so I expect there won't be problems at least not at the beginning :)
Now I can concentrate on relaxation for a few days and to get back to designing.

"Just a little bit"

I'm reminded of a line from HIMYM, when a doctor says to Lilly "Just a little bit" to anything "bad" she wants to try while pregnant :)))
And in my case, I'm nearing the end of my current website process. I will let my friend know what to do with my site in the future. But for now I am satisfied with my website. Everything should be functional soon. I am just adding some membership access, so I can focus on my new patterns.
I already have 2 free patterns so I would love to space them out till I go to the sea in June :)

Feeling the day

Yay, I went out of my room :))))
I went to the doctor to reschedule an appointment I missed because I overslept :P And then I had to finish some smaller things and everything went so smoothly that a friend suggested I played the lottery, because it seemed it was my lucky day. We met with another friend which we accidentally bumped into and went for a coffee. So it was a very nice day, although the wind was not much helpful ;) A friend even offer to help me with my website, but I will leave it for later in the year. Right now I want to make this one functional and if everything goes well, then I'll accept his help to make me another website which won't be in Wordpress. I only made it in WP because it's user friendly and I didn't need to learn much. But if it all goes well with my friend, I'll choose another platform, which I really wanted back in 2014 when I bought the hosting. The best thing is that I won't loose anything :)
Now I am ready to begin my membership process, and after I finish with that I can set all up completely. And more important, I can get back to my real job and that is designing which I very much miss. Especially since I still need to write at least 12 patterns, take pictures and start new projects. So fingers crossed that I finish everything about my website by Monday, especially since I start my physio and I want to be able to do exercises without too much time spent on my laptop.

New patterns uploaded

It was a tedious job, but I did it completely! I uploaded all my patterns to 3 marketplaces and I also uploaded them to my website. It took some hours.
I have them on my new site here: http://www.aimarro.com/shop/
And I also have a free knitting pattern for Newsletter sign up here: http://www.aimarro.com/offer/
Now on to another thing. There are so many things I still need to do, but I would first like to create a membership option for my website. That would be extremely helpful for my free patterns. I first need to install plug ins for that and then work on my next free pattern. I would love to publish it soon. It is a crochet pattern for fingerless gloves. So now I'm looking into some tutorials that will help me make my site for members. Hopefully it won't take me long, because then I would have to make some other pages, like the Info page to tell people how they can access my patterns. And that should not be complicated, because people love simple things :)
I miss crocheting and knitting, because for days I am doing everything else but that. And the new ideas keep popping in my head no matter what I do. I am really overtired. And just to add, this is the way I do it, it doesn't mean everyone else have to do the same. The reason is that I don't have anyone else to ask for help. Well, I do, but that would take a long time, they have their own commitments. And I don't have money to invest in paying someone to do it. So this is the only way I can do it right now. Hopefully, that won't be an issue in the future. At least this way I'll learn the ropes and when one day I can invest more money in my business by hiring someone to do these things for me, I can keep an eye on the process and tell them exactly what I want because I experienced it this way.

Done and done!

I just saw my weekly summary, otherwise known as yesterday's post and I see that most of my tasks are done!
I opened a video channel. Although I didn't know that it was already opened when the account on google was created and that was 5 years ago. But I uploaded my video and added a few things, like a subscribe button to the video. I first set the video to private, but since I wanted to make a blog post about it and link the video, I had to finish everything about the video first so I can share it publicly.
So I did just that. And now the video is public.
I also wrote my first blog post on my new website which I connected to the video. That will be the first tutorial video. I also included a link to Tutorials on my web site. I wish I could make as many videos right now! But that is not possible. So I will have to organize myself, but I leave that after I publish my website completely.
Last night I finished the newsletter linking also. I tested it and it works fine. I downloaded some plug ins that will help me with my future free patterns. I need to examine them, but I currently have no free patterns other the one that is linked to my Newsletter. So that is my current goal. However, I do have one crochet pattern completely done. I just need to edit a video that will show how I crochet the gloves (only major parts, not the whole gloves). So after I do that, I can post a free pattern.
The only thing left to do from my tasks list is go to the movies :)

Weekly summary

I'm a bit tired to write, so I'll try to be quick this time.
It was a productive week. I've set some tasks and added some more during the week and put lists on my board.
The main thing is that I finished my first video. I did voice over and everything looks good. Not great, because my equipment is not so high, but it all seems watchable and that was the main thing.
However, I haven't set up my video channel yet.

I also completed my 6 capes, all buttons are sewed and everything. I haven't done the last one yet. I need daytime for that and last week I woke up pretty late, because I do most of my work at nights. So I need more time to sleep. I am tired but a goodnight (or day in my case) sleep is a must!
I organized my patterns, the ones that needs to be written. I made a list and I already wrote 3 of them. Those are the three easiest to write, but still.
I also finished re-writing all my published patterns. These two (video and re-writing) were the major successes for this last week! Because some patterns need a link to this one video. And all patterns have links to my website and newsletter at the last page. So this was my main focus till now.
I also contacted a friend to suggest me how to link my future free patterns to my newsletter. He helped and I installed some plug-ins on my wp site and I will now focus on that. Hopefully, that will be my main focus next week. After that is done, I can finally open my site for business! :)

What I want to do next week:
-Open a video channel.
-Post an I-cord video.
-Finish the newsletter linking.
-GO TO THE MOVIES! :)))

First video done

Yes, I finally made the whole video, yay! I recorded the voice over and added some music. I also did some smaller editing in addition. It took me 3 rendering tries, because I forgot to write additional info and finally the video is complete! Now I have to open a channel and upload the video and see what else I have to do to it before I publish it.
And afterwards I want to put the link to it in my patterns and also write a blog post about it on my website. I also want to finish all other things involving my newsletter, which includes me researching some plug-ins a friend sent me the links to.
Meanwhile, I am working on my friend's hooded scarf, which is done in garter stitch and also I will offer it one day as a free pattern. I already have 4 patterns I want to offer for free (not including sets for some of them, which I'll work on later in the year). Two of those are crocheted and two are knitted.
Sweeping declaration (Marshal's influence, lol), I will open my website for public by the end of next week!

Editing

Today is an editing video day. I recorded my voice over, but it was like I was talking out of the barrel. I am doing it on laptop, so it has it's own mic. Not only that, but my headphones also have mic. And I have a separate mic. So I was sure I recorded with my stand alone mic, but I actually recorded it with either laptop's or headphones' mic. I had to make sure I am recording with my stand alone mic, although I know it's not a professional one, it's a very cheap mic, but nevertheless it's better than those other two put together. So I was going through my sound settings and finally after a few hours I was able to set it up. Windows - user friendly my ass! I found my mic as some device that hasn't got mic in the name as a disabled device. Luckily I pressed my left mouse button and enabled all devices under mic settings.
That's it. I'm not inspired to write today.

Barefoot sandals pattern finished

I finished another pattern today. It's for barefoot sandals. Crocheted pattern. So that is 3 patterns in 3 days. Not bad, but expected. From now on it won't be like that, because with these sandals I finished the 3 most easiest patterns that already had pictures of them in work. So everything was prepared, all I had to do is write them and check them.
Other 4 patterns I need to write are for 4 already photographed sweaters/shirts. One of them is easy, it requires only 2 sizes because it's a very wide shirt. Also 7 patterns for capes. That's 11 patterns in total. And beside those, there are 2 more patterns for things I started but never finished. Although one of those is a set, but I will probably make it into an e-book, so I counted it as one.
Now I would like to finish the video for crochet I-cord. I've procrastinated on that for too long. I should have done it at a time when I made an editing the first time. But I was so into re-writing patterns I couldn't stop. I knew if I stop I would not get back to it soon, because it was a very tedious job, much of copying and pasting.
Also, a friend gave me some solutions to my newsletter conundrum, so I would love to finish that too. Actually, all these things: re-writing, videos, newsletter; are connected. When I complete them, I would be able to finally publish my website. And then I can get back to pattern writing and designing new things.

Another one done

I wrote another pattern today. It is for the hat and it wasn't that hard to write. In fact, all my patterns are written for at least one size and I've put some notes about other sizes. Only clothing items take much time, others not so much. Well, depending on an item. For instance, knitted capes need pictures for short rows explanation. I haven't done them during making, so I need to do it afterwards.
I also bought some cotton yarn today. I couldn't resist :) I woke up, not even drank coffee and run out to buy the yarn. Yes, silly me :) I couldn't decide on the color. It is for a dress/tunic that I plan to make for this summer and I wanted some bright colors. But I couldn't decide between variegated colors and single color yarn. So I went with beautiful yellow color! I love yellow and it was a toss up between turquoise and yellow. And since I already made something in cotton turquoise yarn, it wasn't hard to decide to buy yellow cotton. I could just imagine the dress/tunic on me when I get tanned in June on a beautiful Greek beach :)
That's why I need to write these patterns quick, so I can start making new things. Not to say that I haven't started yet, because I have, but I do them only when I finish the work I set for that day.

Nice day

It was a nice day today considering I got food poisoning yesterday. But all went well.
I wrote down what patterns I need to write. I don't know if I will write them all this month, but I would love to, because I have new designs that want to get out of my head :)
And I wrote one pattern today already. It is a knitting pattern for hat that is a part of the set Inverted Cable set. I put it as a "similar pattern" at the end of some other patterns without even having it done. So I had to write it first. I only took one photo of it, not on me, but I hope I can take pictures of my hats this week. The weather is nice, and all I have to do is wake up early so I can take pictures outside.
I also sewed buttons to all capes. So now all capes are done except that last one. Those patterns should be easy to write, I just need to decide how many sizes to write. I want 2 sizes for adults, but I don't know if I want kids sizes. That would need some researching which I am not up to right now. Too much other things I need to do. So, I will decide in time. Maybe I'll write only adult sizes now and if the demand for kids sizes is high, then I'll make those patterns separately.
That's it for today. ♥

Finally finished

I finally finished re-writing all patterns, yay! It was a long and very tedious process but it had to be done. I only need to re-write the pattern that is currently in testing, but I will do it tomorrow, since all testers are satisfied with the layout and no errors were found.
Tomorrow I will organize all patterns that need to be written, so I can start writing them, because I have some new designs in mind and I already started on one yesterday while I was resting from pattern re-writing. If I clog my laptop more than it already is, I will make myself another chaos :)
It's better to finish designs that are already made. I don't need to take pictures right now, I will do that later. Although 4 more designs already have pictures. But the capes don't, nor some hats, scarves and gloves.
All I can think right now are new designs, so I have to finish this before I continue with them :)

Weekly summary

So for this week I've done the landing page, but I still have to test it. And that's it for the main goals I set myself to do :))) When I started re-writing my old patterns I was determined to finish them all. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to post them all on my site. And I am almost done. I could have finished them today, but I've decided to relax, knit and watch Castle instead :) There are 14 slippers pattern waiting to be re-written and I hope that I'll be up to it tomorrow.
It funny how I think I can done all that I list for next week :) It seems there is enough time for everything. But most of the last week I was getting up very late and couldn't do things I can only during day. That's why I chose to re-write the patterns instead, I can do that anytime. But I underestimated how much time it would take me to do that, because no matter that the patterns are already written I needed to concentrate quite a bit on over 50 patterns! And they look the same, only the colors differ from pattern to pattern, so some things are routinely done which always makes it difficult, because I keep the routine in my head instead of writing it on a piece of paper.
So now I will copy the things I've planned for last week and haven't done for the following week, knowing quite well that I'll think of something else in between and completely dismiss what I'm about to write, lol. Well, at least I started writing these tasks on paper (quite a number of them) and attaching them on the board next to me.

Tasks to do next week:
-Finish editing my video (voice overs in particular).
-Complete all capes.
-Open a video channel.
-Post at least one video.
-Finish re-writing all published patterns.
-Organize patterns that aren't published and start the process of writing them.
-Make a video about finishing the last cape.
-Edit both videos for crochet gloves

Working all the time

I am still working on patterns. I am finishing up with gloves right now. It is a tough one, but I will succeed it. After that, the only patterns that are left are slippers, which I think will be easy since they are most completed pattern. So just copy and paste.
After that I will get back to finishing the video so I can post it and link everything.
Re-writing patterns took all my last week, so I am shifting all my other responsibilities for next week.

Friday, March 4, 2016

Friday

I woke up very late today. I was re-writing patterns till noon and then went to bed. I re-wrote most of them. Slippers, 2 hats, socks and 2-3 gloves are all that I need to re-write. I may finish everything but slippers for now and then work on my landing page and that video. This is tiring me very, very much and I don't want to make mistakes since I am re-writing patterns to make them better. I need a small vacation :))) I wish I could sleep it off somehow ;)
I also picked today to quit with some of my bad habits. I will see how that will go ;) I'm determined to make this year my turnaround point. The problem with me has always been procrastination, but I have a strong goal in front of me and when I'm in this state, I am determined to get there asap. So either I do nothing or do everything, hehe ;)

Thursday, March 3, 2016

And yet...

I've re-written the easier patterns first. Now I have to do the hardest ones. I am already overtired, but I am driven to the point of breaking (which I won't). So from now on the posts will be about me writing the patterns again.

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Still re-writing

And I'm very tired. I might make a short break tomorrow. Maybe I'll rewrite only a few patterns, I'll see.
For now I did some gloves and barefoot sandals, cuffs and such. I am going to re-write bags next because they have I-cord stitch which I want to release a video of. So those patterns need to be released soon.
That's it for today. I currently am very tired and will go to bed soon. Zzzzzz.... ;)

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

More re-writing

I'm determined to re-write most patterns first before I move to something else. I need to input some links into patterns so that is the most sensible solution for me now.
I already filmed one video, it's only left to record a voice over and input and render it all. After that I have to open a channel and upload the video and do everything else to connect it to my site. That is why I want to finish with patterns first. At least that is my own logic :)
I already re-written all jewelry patterns, so Yay for me! And the knitted boot cuffs are also done. But I made myself a slight "problem". I inserted one link that doesn't exist yet into one of my boot cuffs patterns. It is a link to a hat that is made, but not written nor do I have a picture while wearing it. And since it is a hat pattern, I at least have to look presentable in the picture :) I have taken a picture of the hat on a white background and inserted that picture into the pattern (with the link to a non existent pattern), but I want the wearing-hat-one too!
So I usually solve one problem and make myself another one, lol. Well, I'll see what I can do. ;)
This time I wrote my short and long term goals on post-its and pinned them on the board above my working area. And I already crossed some smaller things :) Now onto re-writing more patterns. I think my tomorrow's post title would be the same :)

Re-writing

Today I was re-writing my patterns. I've done 2, although one was already half done from the day before. All in all, today was a bit lighter day than usual.
My best friend is here now and I was telling her what I've done so far and while I was telling her, I actually realized how much have I really done! But it's a long way ahead of me. I am giving myself till the end of March to launch my site. Now off to relaxing some more :)

Weekly and monthly summary

First of all, a yarn shop is opened near me! Yay! That is a new discovery this month. They keep many a yarn I buy in 2 different shops that are a bit distant from me. I still buy yarn in my favorite shop a few bus stations away, but this shop has different yarn. So that is a HUGE plus for me! And the prices are the same as in those other shops, so I hope I'll always have an instant supply when the next season comes!
As for the summary. I made 6 new pairs of gloves, new designs completely. I wrote patterns for most of them (complete patterns). I filmed how I make 2 pairs of those gloves, 2 pairs that I will offer for free, so that is a HUGE plus once more!
I found a video editing software, I am almost finished with my first video. I made an Intro for my videos. It's not as perfect, but it's great. My brother (the big critic) gave it a big thumbs up today! :)
I learned a lot this month and I hope I can implement some more thing next month. I mentally gave myself a deadline for launching my website by the end of March. And since I'm so driven, I think I can even launch it way before that time.

And here are some of the thing I hope to do next week:
-Make a landing page.
-Write at least one blog post on my new site.
-Finish editing my video (voice overs in particular).
-Complete all capes.
-Open a video channel.
-Post at least one video.

And the things I can do and are not a must:
-Make a video about finishing the last cape.
-Re-write all jewelry patterns.
-Edit both videos for crochet gloves.

Intro

Today I am working on my intro video. I had an idea and I am trying to work it out. I don't have the exact images I envisioned right now, so I am using some "crazy" images from my photo shoot in November. I say "crazy", because I'm making faces :)
I wanted to make a few images with me holding different yarns, maybe having some knitting needles in my hair (collected in a bun). But I am so lazy to take pictures. Besides, the pictures I used in this intro were taken in a photo studio with the right lighting. The ones I want to make would be created at home and in a day light. But day light comes from the right and I want it to go straight to my face. I will have to think this through for a while. But I don't want to wait with my videos, I don't want them not to have intros, so I am making this one for now.
Last night I finished the video editing, which was quick. But when I make everything i picture format, I will then make a new audio to go with the picture. But I will leave that for another day :)

Tutorialing (is that a word?)

I have found another video software so today I was watching numerous tutorials about it. I am so tired, I probably do it the wrong way. I d/l all interesting tutorials to watch off-line. Maybe I should have not do it, but d/l only the ones I need right now.
So I guess tomorrow I'll be trying my luck on my first video. It should be an easy one, I hope at least.
See you tomorrow! ♥

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Video trouble

And today I recorded 2 more videos. One for gloves and one for I-cord. I also downloaded a video editing software and I am already stuck, lol. Nothing makes sense. First I do something right, then in the next clip everything is jumbled. Of course, I don't know how I did that right part thingy and there in lies the problem. Yes, there are a lot of tutorials out there, but nothing really helps me. They are too broad for me. I need specifics and I have to watch a lot of tutorials before I figure it out.
I didn't think it would be easy, but I never thought it would be so hard. Maybe I am tired, I don't know. I'll try again tomorrow before I resort to another software. Nighty night! ♥

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Overtired but productive

Today I woke up early so I could go see my friend. Before that I shot series of small videos about making one gloves design. When I returned I made a second part. Hopefully I won't need to re-shoot them, but I will know that only after I load them in software, which I still haven't found.
I did some house work and after that I made myself a diner. All in all, I am very tired as I write and I am already in bed. Just wanted to write a post and open a book to read, hopefully I won't fall asleep this minute, but it won't be the first time if I did ;)

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Working on a pattern

Today I am working on one pattern. I've done a lot! It is not easy, because the pattern itself is completely written for one size and other 2 sizes are not too hard to implement, but at the same time as I am writing the pattern I am editing pictures that show the steps included. So it's an Alt+Tab all between editing software, writing and everything else. So many programs opened. It's time consuming, but I want to include everything from the start. It only leaves some finishing touches when I complete some other helpful tips.
I've decided to offer free patterns as downloads only. Because it's easier for me to write them offline and make a nice layout for printing. I still haven't learned how to write blog posts and I don't think that layout of the pattern in one blog post would be up to my code. Not only that, when I change themes over time I don't know how that will influence posts. So patterns will be mentioned in blog posts, but they will include only materials and some info and pictures and they will include download links. So people can sign up for Newsletter and download patterns. And that way I can always inform them when I add new free patterns. And I am thinking of really nice ones :)
So, back to finishing the pattern for today. Tomorrow I have to go out and spend almost whole day outside. Who knows if I'll have time to work. Only in the evening perhaps.
I would love to finish these 3 patterns (2 crocheted, 1 knitted) and make some videos so I can edit them in a software and start learning a new thing. So many things, I sometimes feel I won't have enough time. If I can find a way not to stress so much, it would be perfect.

Monday, February 22, 2016

Mondays

Today I had some appointments out and I also bought some small amount of yarn for my crochet gloves. I finished one more pair. Pattern is written for one size already. I only need to add materials and other things in it.
I made half of another gloves too. And I picked a lovely lilac color for them. I love lilac and purple. That will be the color for my website. :)
All in all a nice day ♥

Weekly summary

This was more of relaxed week. I didn't work on the list of goals I set last week. But that is normal for me, because I always have new ideas replacing the old ones. That doesn't mean I don't work on the old ones, just that I sometimes have more ideas than time to put into them. I make lists on paper, so I actually don't need to follow the ideas right now. I prioritize them afterwards. If I have more pressing things I have to do now, then I do that instead of something I previously set to do.
I did however work on patterns. Not the ones for selling, but the ones I will publish as free patterns.
I design 2 new crocheted gloves, so that is good. I have only knitted gloves now, so it would be a nice change of pace to have crocheted ones too :)
I will also be making videos to show the pattern because I think it will be easier to see how the gloves are made. Not the full video on making gloves, just so it would be easier to follow the pattern. So a helpful video.
I re-wrote 2 of my older patterns. I still need to put some links in the patterns and the links are not yet made (they follow nowhere at the moment). And that is why I rearrange my priorities. I need to write patterns for free items, then make a landing page to link them to and also put that link in all my already published patterns. And also, to make some videos that will also go into the patterns. I can't do those things afterwards because I'd be re-rewrite the patterns :)))

And now, I'll put my present thoughts on what I want to do next week (no matter if I do them or not):
-Make videos for free crochet gloves patterns.
-Write complete patterns for knitted and crocheted gloves that are free.
-Make at least one pair of gloves for my site with finished items.
-Rewrite at least one older pattern.

Crocheting

Today I am crocheting! Yay! I mainly knit. Although out of 7 capes that I'm preparing, 3 are crocheted. Still... By most people, crocheting is much easier than knitting. In knitting there are so many different techniques for anything. Yes, crocheting is easier. But I don't look at it that way. I knit or crochet depending on my idea. There are also many designers who make, for instance, a knitting pattern. Then people tend to ask them for a crocheted version. I usually don't think like that. First of all, when you look at a knitted work and a crocheted one, you can clearly see the difference. Different surfaces that's for sure. There are different crochet techniques that can resemble knitting, but I won't go into that right now. But all in all, simple knitted object looks different than crocheted.
I personally prefer to design differently. Maybe it will change in time, it would be interesting to see. I'm not set in stone! :)))

Enjoying all around

I went out, hehe, that is the main thing for today. I went out to relax, having drinks with friends and all time enjoying myself. I deserved it. I put myself through ringer almost every day. And while doing it I don't even realize it at the time. I realize it only when I get out to relax. I guess that is the point of going out. ;)
I love working, but my work can be intense!
I also bought some small amount of yarn. Wow, small amount, that is a success for me :) I need to make a few more pairs of gloves for my e-book. After I make the gloves, then comes the measuring, all around math. I like doing math when I'm in the mood, when I'm concentrated. I guess I would have to go into the concentration mode soon :)

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Researching and learning

I like researching and learning, or re-learning in my case ;) I can completely get lost while doing this. One link leads me to another and so on. In a second I can have more than 40 tabs opened in my browser! Yikes! And then I wonder when my browser kills itself :)
I'm determined to learn or re-learn some things. I have many holes in my knowledge. I actually learned many things "on the curve", so now I need to fill the holes. That is ok, I need structure. Maybe not right now because I don't earn as much to take time to learn, but no matter what I still need to master some things. I am a perfectionist so now I need to organize myself. That came later for me, but still.. Better late than never, right?
And focus is my main objective. I am focusing on 2-3 things right now instead of 10-15 :)))
No time to rest! ♥

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

Rewriting

Today I did some things for myself and myself alone. But now I am rewriting one of my patterns. I will try to do at least one each day, but I don't think I'll succeed with bigger patterns. We'll see...
Don't know what to write anymore. I think this was a bad idea to write every day, lol, but I decided I'll do it. I really don't know how will I post for 2 weeks I'll be on a holiday. No internet access, at least not daily for a laptop. And my phone is so small I can hardly type text messages.

Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Title

Don't have imagination to create a title, so I'm just using Title as a title :))))
I finished another pair of gloves today. It was done in 3 hours! Well, those are simple mitts, but still. I even made a kirchener stitch video while making the gloves, but I still have to find time to chose the editing video software and try my mitts on that ;) Pun definitely intended :)))
I also listened to some nice marketing ideas and even downloaded a couple of videos to watch tomorrow or day after tomorrow, when I find more time to concentrate, because I am actually making gloves while listening in english and it's hard to concentrate on counting and listening at the same time. I can do it, but my head hurts afterwards :)
I also need to find time to revise some of my older patterns now that I have better way of writing them. When you first start writing patterns, you just want to put them out there now and you change the way you write them as you publish new ones. So now I have a better way and I want to implement it. Luckily, I don't have to start from scratch, just fiddle around a bit and make the layout and some wording much better. I'll do it one at a time, starting with one category and then move to another. So I can maybe make e-books out of some of them, particularly the gloves. The gloves are the main reason my store with finished items expanded, it's safe to say the gloves are working for me in the patterns department too. I was just overwhelmed by the quantity of gloves that I was making I completely forgot that the gloves design market is enormous. Especially since I haven't even tapped the crocheted version of gloves!
There are people out there that love to knit only socks, then shawls, stoles etc. I haven't seen anyone concentrated solely on gloves. So, another idea out there :)
Ok, I know I've asked for ideas some months ago, but things are literally bursting out of me! Be careful what you wish for, eh? I don't mind, I write them all down. I just have to prioritize them and I may be on my way of succeeding in realizing them all! ♥

Making gloves

Today I made two pairs of gloves. I was very quick, although I made half the glove and ran out of yarn, lol. So I switched to another color and started over. Too bad the other yarn color is discontinued, it is a lovely purple color. These gloves are for my future e-book with 5 simple gloves designs. Actually, I want to make them in primary stockinette stitch but all 5 different designs: one with cut fingers, one with whole fingers, one with mitt, one with half fingers and a flap, and one long gloves without fingers completely. I think this might be an interesting free e-book I can use for advertising my own website. In the meantime I started imagining other e-books while still making these gloves. My mind keeps getting in my way. It's quicker than my hands :) I have more ideas then time to make all this. Because while I'm working on one idea, I can think of 2 interesting long term ideas in the same time. I'd have to think of something to either "quiet" my mind or "employ" it for something else ;)

Weekly summary

I am a bit sleepy so I don't know if I'd make sense :)
Last week I worked on my website and I made it! I've had some problems yesterday and it took 6 hours to solve them, but I did that too. Very proud of myself :)
As for other things I said I'd do, I relaxed when I was finished with the website. Actually, this was a relaxing weekend.
I didn't finish the last cape. I was asleep every morning so I couldn't take the pictures during day. I did however made a few pairs of gloves and gloves for a friend. So that was a substitute of kind.
I've also tried some knitting ideas and listen to one webinar. Right now I am working on that knitting idea. I've finished one pair of gloves and am making another pair. I picked colors for gloves.

What I would love to do next week:
-Publish my website and make a coupon code.
-Finish all capes and take some preliminary pictures of them.
-Work on the pattern writing. I don't have to finish one complete pattern, but to seriously work on all of them as much as I can.
-Relaxing.
-Working out.

Work and movies

As the title says, it's work and movies day. I am hurrying to get to the movie theater so I'll be quick.
I was having a problem with my website on an Android platform and I spent 6 hours fixing it. Why 6? Because I don't know coding and I had to research the problem in details. It turned out it was a theme problem and after a lot of CSS searching and reading I have found a solution. I still don't know if that would be the right solution, but it fixed the problem for now. It was more of a display problem than anything else. So I added a few lines of CSS codes to the custom CSS and now it works on my mobile :)
And now I'm going to the movies with friends so... :)

Relaxing friday

Today is a relaxing day. I am preparing to go to a friend's birthday. The gloves are packed and ready :)
I also started an idea. Now, I have started a few of them, lol. Why can't I do one at a time is beyond me :) I picked the yarn for 5 gloves. Two designs are almost ready. Well, maybe 3. The other ones are quite easy, just need the stitch count which I'll determine with the gauge. The last pair of gloves I'll have to buy yarn for and I have an idea which, but I think it's on a thinner side. I want it to be variegated because I'll use the stockinette stitch and variegated yarn would look great, because it'll add gloves an interesting note. But the yarn I have in mind is thinner and I would love them to be bulkier. Maybe I'll visit another yarn store to see if they have thicker yarn. But I'll leave those gloves for last.
Going now! ♥

Relaxing

Today was a relaxing day, well my version anyway :))) I was listening to some online courses and knitting some gloves. I have a pair made for a friend's birthday tomorrow, yay!
Also, I finished uploading all my patterns last night. It was a long and tedious work repeating everything so many times, but it's finally done. I also want to hear another video about it tomorrow or over the weekend so I can check if I done everything good. Then I will post a link to my Facebook page with a promo code for an entire store on my website if you sign up for my newsletter.
I am also working on some new gloves that I'll offer as free patterns for newsletter subscribers only. Oh, so many ideas from the webinar I listened to! :)
Now off to relax some more, read and go to sleep. I earned it ;)

Website

And still working on the website. I've hit some snags and I had to find a solution, which was not that easy for a novice like me. I wanted my product pages to look different, but I just can't get it done now. I worked several hours on that problem and made an error, but successfully solved it. I was worried I have to start from scratch, but I thought of something and it worked :)
I will finish uploading all products tonight. However, the website won't be done yet, but the main things will be. Afterwards I can concentrate on other things and tweak the website in between.
I just want to start with the blog as soon as possible. But I also want my store to be done.
I am making gloves for a friend's birthday. It is a cable design and I want to offer it as a free knitting pattern. That is why I want the blog to be ready soon, so I can post it to it. Maybe make a downloadable PDF for Ravelry and eventually include Free Patterns link on my Menu. I still have to figure stuff out in Wordpress, but I am confident I will in time. My problem is that I want everything done now, but I am learning I can't have everything this moment :)))

Website building continues

I worked and worked and worked my ass off! :))) In the precess I've installed so many themes and tried it. Right now I don't have a budget for paid theme so I am working on the free ones. Well, word "free" is overestimated, they are more demo themes. I chose a simple theme because all others I liked have less functionality than this one. But it still gives me griefs in a way that it takes my time off to search plug ins that will help me. And of course there is no helpful thing for me. I even found some nice themes I like, but are paid and the demo versions are just that, to see how it looks like and no custom things at all.
I even wanted to wait and learn Corel Draw, but I had to slap myself not to go that way, lol! It would take me months to make it the way I really want, so I quickly forgot about that.
It's hard to settle for something you don't like in order to get things moving in the direction you want. I have to constantly remind myself not to be unsatisfied with this and that it's more important to start then to get things right immediately. So for now I am settling with this theme and I will work on it till I finish it completely.

Working on the website

As the title says I am working on my website. I installed one theme and followed the video instructions I found and now I think it's way too simple theme for my needs.
So I downloaded a few other eCommerce themes and now I am trying to figure out myself how to customize them. It's easier to follow a Youtube designer than to do it yourself :)
But I am not entirely satisfied with my previous theme and I want the first one to be at least acceptable. Afterwards I can change whatever I don't like. This is not gonna be easy as I thought. I thought it will take me till Wednesday to make a website, but I don't know. I may have to do solely on my website if I want to finish it by the date I set. We'll see...

Weekly resume

Last week I finally bought buttons for my capes. All I need to do now is to add them to the capes and finish them.
The last cape is not yet finished. I tried to make a video of it but I started without having an idea how to do it, lol. I filmed a few minutes but then stopped until I try it off camera. And I did and it worked. So now I need to film it properly. Don't need to edit it or film it in one go, just film the whole thing and edit it when I get a chance.
The goal to make one video and edit it last week has failed. I filmed an incomplete video so I didn't even try to edit it. I will probably put it on a "maybe" pile for next week.
I haven't even tried making the pictures of my crocheted letters last week. The letters are still on the styrofoam. But it's a part of a video intro, so it will have to wait until I finish more pressing matters.
Didn't write the whole new pattern either. I have about 14-15 unfinished patterns and I can't begin to write even one until I finish my website. And the reason is I want to blog about my process and blog will be a major part of my website.
And I did dabble with Wordpress theme, so that is a yes on doing something I wanted for the end of last week.
Also, a major thing - I finally found the white cashmere blended yarn for my popular gloves! I can now put the gloves back in my shop with finished items! Yay! And the store has a new yarn in black color, soft as clouds. Those two colors together with a light beige color are now my three favorite yarns for the Inverted Cable gloves.
I also started on my Instagram account. I posted only two pictures but that is the first step. I made a few more pictures that I'll post at a later time. I think it's good to be prepared for Instagram especially since it's too complicated to plug in my tablet to laptop just to transfer one picture. All downloaded apps disappear from my tablet and I have to manually post them to the desktop each time I connect laptop and tablet.
I changed some things on my Ravelry page, posted a coupon code for the new pattern, changed profile pictures for my Twitter account. So things are moving from a stand still point and I'm excited about it! :)

Here's what I hope to do next week:
-Completely finish my Wordpress website (that's gonna be tricky, but I think it can be my starting point for everything related to my business)
-Make more gloves during making website (this is my relaxing time anyway)
-Complete all capes and make them ready for photo shoot
-Try some knitting ideas and take photos of the process
-Make more time for relaxing from designing
-Exercise so the back pain won't happen again

Website

I want to hurry and make my website first then work on anything new. So I am following a video from Youtube to make a Wordpress site. There are so many thing I need to think on, it's a jumble in my head. Pictures, cropping them, making menus, WOW! It's a slow process and they say I need 2 hours. Yeah, right! lol!
I'm a perfectionist, but I don't need the site to be fully customized right now. I wanted to make a standalone website with it's own store and shopping cart, but I really don't need it right now. I can just make a blog with images for products leading to my other shops on different marketplaces.
And in time, when I can afford someone to customize my site the way I want, I can do just that. Besides, it's good to refresh your website from time to time, but not a few times during one year. I should have made it back in 2014, but live and learn.
Now off to enjoy with a friend :)

My craziness

Today I woke up early because I've had a doctor's appointment. Usually when I have to wake up early to go somewhere I can't sleep well the previous night. That was the case last night. So I started imagining I was in a hammock somewhere on the beach. Usual relaxing images, right? Not for me. I started DESIGNING THE HAMMOCK in my head! I started with a wooden board. Then I made holes on that board. I first started with 5 holes on each side, but then decided I needed only 4. Also, a few holes on each sides. I'll get to that later. Then I padded that board so I can lie in it. Then came the net. I actually started crocheting my favorite stitch I-cord in my head! I first put a hook at each end. But then I started thinking the hook won't keep the hammock from detaching itself, then I changed the hook to carabiner clips. After I made the whole net around the board, I made sides with crocheted I-cords in all the holes and this time hooks on their ends. I even imagined how they will be hooked to the opposite side under the hammock when they are not used. And then I imagined a rope over my head, connecting each end of the hammock to each other and those side hooks (when they are in use) connected over it, so I can put a canvas over to keep me from mosquitoes. The end.
Now do you understand why I could not sleep!!! :)))))
I remembered that whole thing when I was in the yarn supply store so I had to tell it to my friend. We laughed so hard at my craziness!
And yeah, I bought some white yarn today, so I'll definitely be making more of my best selling white gloves!!! ♥

Reading and researching

Today was a reading and researching day. I actually enjoy these days but the time passes soooo fast! :)))
I was actually researching some dslr cameras and their functions and prices. Right now I can't afford a new camera especially a dslr, but that never stops me from reading and researching. :)
I also made a chinese chicken and rice dish my mum loves so much and I am preparing to enjoy it.
So that's it for today from me ;)

Sharing and caring

Well, I did the sharing and that made me caring :))))
The title just popped in my head so I wrote it. It has no exact connection to anything special I did today.
I brought the last cape to the end, but I want to make the finishing video tomorrow morning when there's daylight, so I'll leave the finishing for tomorrow.
I posted my first Instagram picture today. I'm proud that I begun something new :) The first steps count a lot in my book, since I always find it hard to make, don't know why. It's not like I'm jumping from a literal cliff!
It's kind of complicated to connect tablet to laptop and then transfer the picture so I can post it from the tablet. I might preload a few pictures in advance not do it one picture at a time.
So today was full, with a bit of crocheting, posting and making supper. Now I'm gonna relax a bit and watch Ghost Busters!!! Maybe dance to some music :)))

Sunny day

Today was a warm and sunny day. 16C. I went out and wore my spring jacket :)
Before that I was trying a "long promote" which I imagined. I didn't expect great results immediately, but I am proud I started with it. And that's a good thing.
I also went to the supply store and bought some yarn for the 7th cape. I also bought buttons for the other 3 capes. So all in all a good day!
I am currently working on a cape and if all goes according to my plans, I will finish it tomorrow night or Thursday morning.
I was planning to take some preliminary photos on Thursday, but they say it will be a showy day and I wanted to take them outside. I'll wait for Thursday and then decide. No need to hurry, but I have some other projects waiting and I wanted to finish that sooner rather than later.
I'm liking this last cape more and more. Too bad one of the yarn in it is discontinued. Maybe it could be a hit and I wouldn't mind making it again :)

One more pattern for testing

Today I posted another pattern for testing. It's the Moro Shrug. It's a lace shrug done on knitting needles 3.0 mm (US 2 1/2). Last time I've had 6 tester although I would have wanted to be 12, but I guess it's a bit longer project and people tend to knit/crochet smaller ones. I don't know why that is, I've always wanted to make bigger projects. Actually, sweaters are my first love. I remember designing my first sweater when I was 14. I then succumbed to that "popular" trend of designing smaller items like gloves, hats, scarves. But I actually love doing the "complicated" longer designs.
I can't wait to start working on my sandals. I have so many ideas! Today I imagined a classic sandal design similar to Roman sandal, but not quite :)
But I want to finish all the patterns that are in queue before even committing to serious sandal designing. I want then to be as perfect as they can be. And the sole is the biggest of my worries. But all good things comes to those that wait :)
I also finished another pair of braided cable gloves in plum color and started on a brown ones in the same design. The brown yarn is actually camel wool and it's not that course like sheep wool. It comes in lighter and darker brown, I chose the darker brown or natural brown.
I published Sonja Shrug on Craftsy. I made a draft on Etsy. And I plan to publish it on Ravelry tomorrow night. In the meantime while Moro Shrug is being tested, I have to decide which pattern to write next. I wanted to write all designs that I already took pictures of, but those are all sweaters and cardigans. I have 7 capes waiting and although I don't have pictures of them yet, and for some I would love to make video tutorials, I think I'll do them next. Those projects are not as big as shrugs, they have less sizes (if any) and they are made in thicker yarn. Perfect for those who want to make quicker things.
As for other new designs, a month or two ago I started a sweater for myself in off white color and thinner yarn and I would love to work on that. I've reached the waist part and I knitted everything without decreasing, but I sometimes tend to change my mind mid design and now I'm wondering if I should frog some of it and make a waist. The reason I didn't go with the decreased more fitting waist is having to calculate other sizes. Let me tell you, it's a pin in the ass! And not the donkey's ass, my own lazy ass, lol! I would have to research that a bit more and with Wordpress and video editing hanging over me (well, not exactly, I feel excited about learning new thing), I don't know if I have it in me to add this to my very chaotic schedule. But since I don't need to decide right now, I'll leave it after I clear up some of the things I piled up on myself.
And on that note, I am going to bed early. Maybe I'll catch up on some reading :)

Weekly and monthly resume

What I did this month? That's a tough one since I don't keep track and can't remember that long, lol. But I'll try.
I finished one complete pattern, Sonja Shrug. I finished it today and sent my testers a final copy. So I finished my first test! And as for first test experience it wasn't that bad at all, lol. The testers were great, they helped me a lot and I am immensely grateful to them and hope we'll continue working together on my future projects.
I also wrote the pattern for Moro Shrug. It's similar to Sonja, but it has longer sleeves and different lace elements. But the just is the same, raglan shrug worked from the top down. I am currently making it to look like Sonja Shrug so I can post it for testing tomorrow or Tuesday the latest. I still need to set a deadline date for it.
I made 4 completed capes this month. Three are knitted and one is crocheted. I also made the 5th cape but it's not finished yet since I had to frog it and start over. And because of my last week's back problem I still don't have the yarn to finish it, but hopefully that will be resolved tomorrow.
I knitted some gloves in between working on cape collection. Those gloves I put in my finished items shop and in the drawer where I keep finished items for sale.
I also have some ideas for video tutorials. First the intro. I played around with some cotton yarn and made my brand name Aimarro and starched it. It is done drying but I still have to make pictures of it. The letters look great, so much so that I had an idea to make the whole alphabet both big and small letters. But I am known to have more ideas than time to realize them, so I don't know if that will be ever done, let's hope so :) The letters use I-cord and I am preparing a video for that because I love to use it in my products, from strings for barefoot sandals to handles for bags. I just love it!

Here's what I hope to do next week:
-Buy buttons and yarn for that last cape, finally!
-Make at least one video and try an editing software
-Make elements needed for the video intro
-Write at least one more completed pattern (final pictures don't have to be included)
-Dabble with Wordpress theme

And everything else I'll do in between! ♥

Writing and knitting

More resting this weekend. I am currently adding finishing touches to my Sonja Shrug pattern. The testing is finished, everything went well which makes me happy. But I need to change small things about the pattern and maybe leave room to make some helpful videos. I also want to add the same corrections to the Moro Shrug, since it's done in the similar way except for longer sleeves.
I also finished a pair of gray braided cable gloves with the last remaining yarn. I wanted to make sure I have enough and I did. And since I have some leftover of plum color yarn from making a cape, I've decided to make another pair of braided cable gloves from it. So off to work some more :)

Friday

So today I didn't go to the store. I felt I needed more time to heal my back, which is better today. I went to a store to buy some starch, but I couldn't find any! And I went to three different stores. In one store they didn't even know what that is! I'm still amazed by people's... well, won't mention what :)
So I went to my trustworthy source - the internet! And I found some home made ways to make starch. I tried the one with flour. Right now my logo is safely drying on a styrofoam. :)
If the flour doesn't work, I'll try it with sugar. I didn't want to start with sugar because it seems that would be too sticky. But we'll see. It will probably take more than 3-4 days for the logo to dry, since it's not flat but a bit 3D.
I won't be able to finish all the things I wanted this week, because some of the things include buying yarn and buttons, but that was unavoidable this week. I'll need to revisit what I'll do instead :)

Thursday, January 28, 2016

Resting

Today I rested some before I go to the store tomorrow, hopefully. I want that yarn before weekend. I've finished half the cape and I just want to continue it. My back is better today, but I still can't bend.
I also want to buy starch and find some Styrofoam for a project I want to finish over weekend.
That's all from me today ♥

Frogging

Yes, I frogged the cape today. And I started a new one. Before I asked myself why oh why I didn't have enough of yarn to finish the cape, now I know. Because the third color I put into it gives the cape such a wonderful look! It simply opens it up, gives it life and joy! I've had the beige color for so long, I used the same yarn to make myself a hat and gloves set. I just love the yarn! But the yarn is not thick as other two colors I used, so I have to use two strands to make a row. It doesn't matter, I just love the look of it and I can't wait to see it finished!
I will definitely work on the cape tomorrow so I can determine how much of that beige yarn I need. My back pain is slightly better today, but it's still here. So I am hoping it will get better on friday and I can go to the store to buy the remaining yarn for the cape before weekend. After that cape is finished, I'll start working on the patterns for all seven and for some hats I finished months ago. And after that I can take pictures :)

Back pain and logo

Last night I wanted to do something productive for the day, so I cleaned my desk and throw out some boxes that were clogging my room. And lo and behold, I through my back out. I think it's a pinched nerve in my lower back but today I couldn't move. Well, I could walk but couldn't bend at all. So no store for me today or any other day until my back heals. That happens because I knit a lot and don't exercise. I constantly say I will exercise but after 3 days I quit. So I will at least do stretching exercises every morning after the pain is gone.
I wanted to be able to do something today since no yarn for the cape, so I checked video editing software. I found a few but haven't tried them, instead I watched some video tutorials on Youtube to see which one has best features. During that I found one video that explains the intro to videos which I've always wanted to have in mine, so I got an idea! Immediately I had a whole segment in my head. And whenever I have a new idea I have to try it out if I have resources and I did this time. So I started working on my brand name "Aimarro", as a logo, and I am almost finished. It looks great! I only have to go to the shop and buy some tools to finish it completely, but I'll leave for when I feel better.
So all in all, very successful day :)

Dance

So I'm doing the dance of avoidance once more. What else is new ;)
I should have gone to the store today to buy some yarn for the 7th cape and buttons, but I didn't. Well, there's always tomorrow ;)

Weekly resume

Last week I had some new ideas and some old ones. I decided I will make a website in Wordpress after all. Two years ago I tried it and I didn't like how Store looks like in Wordpress. I first wanted to make two categories: patterns and finished items. But whenever I clicked on the Store, I got all products jumbled with "recent" on the top. I wanted it to be different and all Wordpress websites I searched looked the same. I still don't like that part but it will have to make do for now. It's better to put up a working website and iron the small stuff later.

I also made two capes, which is wonderful. But only one size is written. I need to determine how many sizes to write. I want to write S/M and L/XL size, but I don't know if I should attempt to write kids sizes. Although I can test the patterns afterwards of course. I will ponder about that...

I also took pictures of some finished gloves. Those gloves I made about a month ago and they were ready for my shop with finished items, but I love working on patterns so I constantly put it off. Drafts are already made and ready to be publish when I feel ready.

While making pictures for capes, I found a solution for making tutorial videos. I used to have a complicated way which I didn't try, but now I found a simpler one and tried it. It seems it works great!

Last cape, number 7, is nearing end. Unfortunately, I don't have enough yarn for it. It takes two colors and color B is reaching it's end. There is no more of that yarn in the store, so I need to find a solution. I think I will use a third color that complements black and gray I am already using. Which means frogging! I hate frogging, but sometimes I have to do it.

What I want to do next week:
-Buy more yarn for the 7th cape, frog what's done and complete the whole cape
-Find some editing software for videos and try it on the piece I already filmed
-Make notes about videos I need to do first, so that the patterns can be written completely
-Write at least one complete pattern
-Buy buttons for capes that are made and sew them on

Hopefully I will succeed in these endeavors. :)

Learning

Learning is what I need and want to do. There are a few ideas that I got last week and most of them involve some kind of learning. I want to finally put up a website, that means some Webpress learning. I want to make video tutorials and help, that means learning how to edit and make videos. I want to learn some promotion and marketing, more learning. I want to learn to work in Corel. Learning it is! But I learn quick when I want and internet is filled with helpful tips. :)

Simplicity

For months I wanted to find an easier way for me to shoot videos. I want to make videos for knitting and crocheting tutorials and post them on Youtube. I found a way but it seemed too complicated. I wanted to make the videos on my table and put the camera on a tripod. But it takes a lot of other planning to do that and it always seemed too complicated for me to do, so I've never tried it.
Today I was taking my standard pictures for patterns and I got an idea how to make my videos much easier! So I tried it and it worked! I was so excited that I finally find an easier way!
Now all I have to do (is that all??) is to learn editing and everything else about making videos. Not to mention that I need to make my website and install the right Wordpress theme to it and adjust it to my needs, which change all the time. But at least I have some work to do and work is always good when it comes to me :)

Something, something...

I'm doing something, something :)))
Actually, I just made myself a supper. French fries, scrambled eggs, lettuce, radish and scallion! I am going to enjoy myself very, very much! :)))
It's so simple to make, you always have potatoes and eggs in your fridge. And lettuce, radish and scallion I bought in a market near my building.
Now off to eat and stay merry! ♥

PS. This looks like I always eat, lol!

Slava

I don't know if there is a word in english for serbian word "slava". But today is that day. On this day 21 years ago I was baptized. It happened accidentally on this day, but that tells me something.
So today I didn't knit or crochet. I made some small changes but they are changes non the less. I cleaned my message board and added some sentences I want to see the minute I wake up.
I also added some of the things I want to do, made a concrete messages of things I want to finish as soon as possible. And I even finished two. They weren't anything major, but I took pictures of some gloves. It's a beginning process of me cleaning my room, or organizing it better. I always make a chaos and then have to clean it up. This time the mess is only in some places, the major ones are clean or in order :)
I also organized something for friday so I am starting to do something instead of thinking about it or talking about it.
All in all it was a good day, enjoyable day ♥

Weird

And the weird thing is that I went to sleep early and realized that I haven't written a post for today. So I restarted the computer to write and mark another day, as per agreement with myself :)
Like a Lazarus I rose! :))) I'm beginning to think I am weird in some way, but that is no news to me.
No cleaning today. Surprise, surprise. I was too tired to move, which always happens to me when I stay awake for a whole day. But I organized and cleaned some things on my desk and I hope I will do more this week. I also am at the end of one more cape. All I need is a bit of day light so I can take pictures of the final phase of the cape and it's done. And then the final cape, which I need to tweak a bit so it will be as I imagined it to be.
So nighty night for now ;)

Cleaning

Today and tomorrow are my cleaning days. I need to work on something other than my work. Thing pile up around me and it reached it's peak. Hence, two cleaning days. I need to organize things better. I don't know if I'll finish everything, but if I do the majority of work I'll be satisfied. Will post my progress tomorrow :)

It's here

Well, that was quick! We have snow. It was the first thing I saw when I woke up. I love waking up and discovering that snow has fallen the previous night. It's something that takes me to my childhood, the good part :)
As for the other things today, there hasn't been anything much. I finished another cape. The one that is all in garter stitch and with short rows (isn't every one made like that). Next week I need to go out and buy some buttons for two capes. And two more I need to finish. Those are crocheted ones. I need to figure out how to switch between two colors. If I crochet one row in one color and next one in another, then I will have strings on both sides and I would need to weave them in which I don't like to do. And if I make 2 rows in one color and 2 in another, I will still have to weave the necessary ends afterwards. I will probably work on the other cape for now while I'm thinking of a solution for the two colored cape. Oh, I can't design so many things on-the-go at once, right?

Waiting

Waiting for new snow over here! They say it will fall any day now. I like walking in the snow. In the meantime I knit as much as I can. I want to finish this collection so I can take at least a few picture in the snow :)
Meanwhile, I am waiting for a friend of mine to come over. I said I won't be going to the sea this year but it seems I will after all. She and our friend are going by car so it's a nice change than bus, like we go each year. You have time to stretch as you want and take smaller or bigger breaks, so it's better that way! 15 days in Greece, nice one ;)
Of course, I won't be me if I didn't have some summer designs I will be taking with me so I can take pictures on the beach. Hopefully I will make a few sandals I plan by then. Which means I have to go to Home Depot next week to see if they have a material for the soles. Bye for now!

Friday the... not 13th

Today is my "thinking" day. Not a good thing for me if I overthink, which I do these days. I guess when I do some big projects and knit/crochet all the time, thinking is a big part of it. And being the way that I am, I can't help it. Sometimes I wonder if we are on top of the food chain because of our brains, how is it possible that our brains actually make our life harder? We are a strange bunch us humans.
When I knit/crochet something for a long period of time, I watch something on TV or computer, some movies or TV shows. I do that to stop my brain from going places that I don't want it to go :) Today I watched Youtube tutorials on some things, not knit or crochet wise, just some other things about utilizing social media. There is so much about it out there, and it's hard to find what can really help you, not all people in general. Because there is no unique formula. So I have to sift through everything and also not in my native language. But hey, that's life!
They all say you have to be truthful and yourself. Ok, I get that. But on the other hand I see people that are making a certain image and show themselves in a different light. They don't seem very believable. In fact, I've research some of the smaller brands that are to say interesting to me, and only a handful (if that) seem to be true to themselves. But that is a long post to be written and I'm in no mood right now for it. And for the end. I don't think people would like to see my "true" face. :) I can be so moody sometimes (aren't we all!) and you don't want to see me when I'm in a bad mood. It happened yesterday and I was with my friend. She understood me, hehe. I do get some good ideas during my bad mood, so there's that! Ok, gone now, I want to read some more. Love ♥
